My client is one of the leading civil contractors in New Zealand, known for their delivery of technical and challenging projects. As they look to grow their market share in the water sector they are looking for a Project Director to join the leadership team. This senior roles focus will be on the managing and development of the water division, whilst offering technical and managerial experience as part of the overall delivery of large scale water projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the delivery of large-scale water and wastewater projects from inception to completion at a senior management level
- Manage multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring the efficient execution of projects within scope, budget, and timelines
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, clients, and contractors to drive project success
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen by managing contracts, budgets, and contractual obligations
- Ensure compliance with all legal, health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout project delivery
- Lead project management functions, providing strategic direction and technical guidance to teams
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including local authorities and government entities
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering sector, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Extensive experience in delivering capital projects and managing large, complex programs
- Strong managerial experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams
- In-depth knowledge and experience in contract management, commercial negotiations, and risk mitigation
- A deep understanding of water management systems, with particular expertise in wastewater treatment and infrastructure
- Previous international experience is highly desirable, particularly with AMP water contracts
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Degree or equivalent in industry related area such as civil engineering, project management etc.
