Are you a seasoned construction professional with a proven track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects? I am looking for a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Construction Director to join my client on a major infrastructure project in New South Wales, Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage key aspects of a high-profile project, working alongside senior leadership and ensuring the successful delivery of complex works.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Project Leadership: Collaborate with senior executives to set standards and objectives, ensuring the project runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with key stakeholders including contractors, service providers, local councils, and government bodies to ensure alignment and timely delivery
  • Operational Oversight: Maintain high standards of project safety, quality, and environmental management across all activities
  • Performance Evaluation: Implement performance measures and provide regular progress updates to senior management, addressing issues and bottlenecks proactively
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve issues promptly, ensuring the project remains on track even under pressure

Required Competencies

  • Extensive experience in managing major infrastructure projects at a senior level
  • Strong management and communication skills with the ability to lead teams and engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in performance evaluation and problem-solving, ensuring the project remains efficient, cost-effective, and adheres to safety standards
  • Ability to handle complex environmental management challenges
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple activities across various teams

Desirable Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector
  • Major infrastructure operations experience; tunnel experience would be a bonus but not essential
  • Problem solving skills

Key Objectives Include

  • Set project standards and objectives to ensure delivery is on time and within budget
  • Ensure efficient cost allocation while maintaining a high standard of work
  • Regularly report to senior executives regarding project progress, challenges, and solutions
  • Deliver high-quality performance metrics and manage project deadlines effectively
