My client is a leading civil contractor dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across New Zealand. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, they specialize in a wide range of civil engineering projects, including water infrastructure developments.

They are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join their dynamic team in Wellington. As their workload increases so their team is growing and this new role is part of that expansion.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical aspects of water-based projects from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate with design teams to ensure specifications and drawings meet project requirements
  • Oversee installation of pipes and equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Conduct inspections and testing to verify functionality and performance
  • Prepare project documentation including reports, schedules, and budgets
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure project milestones are met
  • Provide technical support during commissioning and handover phases

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical project engineering within the mechanical or civil construction sector
  • Experience with water projects is a bonus but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of pipe works and equipment installation processes
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with project management principles and software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
